Have I mentioned that I get these heart palpitations? If I haven't mentioned it, well, I've only had them about two weeks now. I googled them and although there was some alarming stuff it was also common in pregnancy so I didn't worry too much. Even my OB yesterday just suggested that I monitor it for another few days and we will talk on Monday about whether I need to see a cardiologist or not.
But today I got this chest pain in my left side just above my ribcage and, well, it freaked me out. Not enough to go to the ER, not 1300.00 deductible freaked out, just urgent care freaked out. So I got called back into the room and was told to undress from the waist down. The tray is set up with instruments for an internal exam. Oh, I get it- I told you I had chest pain so you better check it out through my hoo-hah!
No, seriously, I was alarmed. I don't need anyone but my OB digging around in there. I stressed to the Dr that I was more worried about the chest pain and that my fetal fibronectin test done yesterday was not positive or my Dr would have called me today.
Anyway, the long and the short is that my EKG was normal. My chest pain is probably just gas. I got out of the internal exam. And I got to listen to the baby's heartbeat for three or four glorious minutes because the nurse kept losing track of her count. She claims it is a boy. She also told me it's heart rate was 110. I made her check again because that was an absurdly low heart rate for a hummingbird of a baby. She was wrong-that was my heart rate. So I think I won't place much stock in her prediction that it is a boy either. Matter of fact, even though we didn't find out at our 20 week ultrasound and we saw nothing to give us any indication one way or another I happen to think it's another girl.
