If I come across as sounding like we live in a filthy pigsty, we don't. I mean, it gets messy. Cluttered sometimes. But thanks to a visit from my housekeeper each week it is not filthy.
And although I sometimes go all day without showering and sometimes my kids go without showering we are also not filthy people. We do use soap. When we shower that is.
I just find it funny how priorities change when you have kids. At least they did for me. For example, I just took down the Christmas decorations this weekend. You know, I used to be the perfect housewife. Well, working housewife that was. We have been married for nine years this year (wowza!) and before we had children I always had our decorations up on the day after Thanksgiving and down on New Years day. Always.
Last year I got the decorations up. Sometime before Christmas. And down. I think around February. This year I got some decorations up. The first week of December. And down. What's today? The 19th of January? I guess I'm doing better than last year, considering I have one extra child this year.
I remember driving through the neighborhood the weekend after New Years wondering why everyone hadn't gotten outside to take down their Christmas lights. Now I am wondering, since mine are still out, will my neighbors and the homeowners association really notice or can I get away with it all year?
Oh yeah, and just so you know, the washing machine and dryer have been going all day. I am going to try and get all the laundry washed, folded, and even put away today. Wish me luck.

Jenn - Do you honestly think we figure you live in a hovel? Sometimes my ironing pile is so huge I need oxygen to scale it, mind you sometimes my washing pile is just as big! Don't beat yourself up - your toes would curl if you were to see my mess some days, but like you it's not dirt!
