My favorite time of year is typically fall. I love it when the air cools down at night, is crisp in the morning and warm during the day, and I love the smell of the leaves drying out. Fall isn't quite the same in the desert southwest as it is almost everywhere else. For example, our leaves don't turn colors. Most times they don't even turn brown or fall off the trees but there is still something special about fall. I love the colors, the fragrances, and the impending holiday rush that comes just after.
However I have also decided that I love spring also, especially spring in the desert southwest. The sun is shining, the air is warm, and I just feel totally motivated to do things I haven't felt like doing in months- like exercising, cleaning out closets, and starting new home improvement projects.
Yesterday we officially opened the pool season here. We heated the pool thirty degrees bringing it from a chilly 56 to a lovely 86 (ouch- that gas bill is going to be lovely) and we let our kids swim to their heart's content. I love it when I am able to peel them away from their iGadgets long enough to get some fresh air and natural exercise.
Today I am going to clean out a few more closets, organize a bunch more junk, go for a run on the treadmill, then throw on a tank top and shorts so I can go do some yardwork.
AHHH. I love this time of year.
